Vacancy for Deputy Accountant

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Insurance Services is inviting applications for the post of Deputy Accountant.

Job Brief

The prospective Deputy Accountant is a senior position in the Accounts Division.  The Deputy Accountant must be able to supervise the work of the other accounting staff and act as relief in the absence of the Accountant.

The list of principal duties includes:

  • To verify and post all accounting data in the Sage 300 accounting software on a daily basis.
  • To review journals for all investments – bonds, deposits, equity, loans, held for trading, fair value and foreign exchange.
  • To prepare staff loan reconciliations.
  • To monitor securities for staff loans.
  • To verify daily deposits.
  • To complete the VAT return and payment.
  • To review the inventory system for stationery.
  • To acting as relief for preparation of prepayments reconciliation.
  • To act as relief for preparation of fixed assets reconciliation.
  • To manage all accounts receivables.
  • To assist the Accountant in the preparation of financial statements and other financial reports.

The key skills, abilities and knowledge required are:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Must be able to supervise
  • Computer literacy – Sage 300 accounting software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other applicable computer programmes

Minimum Educational qualifications and experience

  • Professional designation – ACCA, CGA or other relevant designation
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • At least five years working experience
